In Native American folklore, the zinnia flower holds a special place of honour. According to their legend, the flower was seen as a sacred symbol and a gift from a Mother Nature deity to a young Navajo child named Straight Arrow. Straight Arrow was tasked with finding a way to protect their precious crops and sought guidance from the natural world around him. The flower whispered a solution to him, leading to the tradition of planting yellow zinnias alongside the corn fields of the Navajo people. The zinnia became a symbol of hope and protection for the Navajo community. As they tended to their fields, the presence of the yellow zinnias served as a reminder of the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world.
